"The Colors of Fall".

This year, Kansas has actually had a fall season that lasted longer that just a few days. We had patches of intense fall colors, and these are just a few from my own yard.

Americana

I belong to a group of photographers, called the Franklin County Shutterbugs. We took a group trip to Atchison Kansas in July for the Amelia Earhart Festival. Due to the flooding, it was moved from the Missouri River to Warnock Lake. The fireworks show was amazing and lasted 30-45 minutes. While everyone is used to seeing fireworks photos in color, I changed this one to black and white. I've decided that I really enjoy black and white photography.

My favorite quote about black and white photography is by Ted Grant: "When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black & white, you photograph their souls."

Happy New Year

Welcome to 2011. I spent the evening of January 1st with a group of fellow photographers. We travelled to Kansas City and one of our stops was the Kansas City Plaza. The buildings are outlined in Christmas lights and are turned on after Thanksgiving. They are quite a sight to see and I never tire of photographing there.
